November
A plane carrying cars crashed at Guernsey Airport in November, another plane crashed on Crevichon, and a Lancaster bomber landed in Sark. It was the month in which a hospital worker stood accused of murder and the mainland papers were full of excitement over a Guernsey execution. A recruit decided that army life wasn't for him, so ran away and burned his clothes, and two others were shot for desertion.
The original Torteval church was consecrated, Jethou's tenant fell off his cliff, and, during the occupation, the Germans confiscated all the island's radios to stop anyone hearing the BBC news.
