June

June was month that Guernsey welcomed its first steam ship, and the Guernsey Railway company ran its last services. A brave guest house keeper caught some of her guests as they jumped from upper floors when the building caught fire, and the Queen – then Princess Elizabeth – opened the Guernsey hospital that had been named in her honour.

There was plenty to celebrate throughout June, though, including Guernsey FC's storming performance in the Combined Counties League, a royal visit in honour of liberation, and G-JOEY's very last flight home from the mainland.
