  • The Co-operative movement is born in Jersey
    The Co-operative Society was established after a 23 May meeting at the Oddfellows Hall and opened its office at New Street one month later.
  • Plane scrapes the runway at Jersey Airport
    A DC-8 flying into Jersey came in with its nose too high and its tail too low. The tail struck the runway and scraped along it.
